Akcigit awarded the Rahmi M. Koç Medal of Science.

Prof. Ufuk Akcigit, co-director of the Growth Academy, was awarded the 2025 Rahmi M. Koç Medal of Science. The medal is Türkiye's most prestigious scientific recognition for scholars of Turkish origin under fifty.

Past laureates include Akcigit's doctoral adviser Daron Acemoglu (2024 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences, Koç Medal 2024) and his UChicago colleague Ali Hortaçsu (2021). Akcigit is the first Koç University alumnus to receive the medal.

The award ceremony, held at the Rahmi M. Koç Museum in Istanbul, included an address by Prof. Akcigit on the relationship between talent allocation and long-run growth, a thread that runs through Pillar 03 of the Growth Academy curriculum.
